About us and our contemporary beaded jewellery

Who we are

My name is Olga and together with my husband Kevin we work from our home studio based in Greater Manchester. We have both been interested in arts and crafts for longer than we care to remember and we started K & O jewellery to fulfil our love of designing and handcrafting contemporary jewellery. Kevin's focus is mainly on the more business aspects, which allows me to concentrate on design and to personally hand make all of our jewellery.

Our jewellery

Originally from Russia, I have a natural love of colour, texture and form, elements of which characterise my work. I like to explore and experiment with a wide range of different materials from organic semi precious gemstones to the finest crystal beads and combine their different shapes and qualities to produce pieces which are distinctive, eye-catching and fashionable.

As designer and maker, I work hard to create jewellery which is unique and offers exceptional value; jewellery which you will love to wear; jewellery that is as individual as you are.

Beginnings

As a child I had a love and passion for art and these feelings have stayed with me ever since. I trained and worked as a university teacher of English and filled my spare time learning different crafting skills and techniques. After marriage I moved to the North West of England and attended courses in design, fashion and decorative painting, these were my first steps towards truly releasing the creative talents which were locked inside.

My journey progressed to learning jewellery making and design and then onward to beadweaving. After studying the techniques of several renown beadweavers I developed my own style which forms the basis of many of the pieces I create today.

Inspiration

My work is inspired from my love of nature, its immense beauty and intricate structures, the refractive quality of crystal beads, and the unique patterns of colour and light of semi-precious stones.

Individuality

Many of my pieces are one-offs, while others may be repeated, although no two pieces are ever exactly the same. Commissions for bespoke, custom made pieces are welcomed.
